(EXCERPTS FROM TWO LETTERS I FOUND ON MY DAD'S DESK TO HIS MOM FROM 1991)

"Tom likes kindergarten and has "homework" to do most nights. At least he doesn't have to wear a bowtie, like I had to. ... Carley is getting a bit fussy, but has grown quite a bit. 50% for height but 75% for weight. Maybe she'll be built like Anne Marie but I hope somewhat easier going in temperaments"

SECOND LETTER
"The kids are fine. Tom seems to be sprouting up, while Carly is porking out Anne Marie seems to be stuck in neutral for now."

Soooooo...reading between the lines here, when I was three my dad thought I was a fat bitch, Carly was a pig who didn't deserve to have her name spelled correctly, and Tom was a whiny baby who couldn't handle homework and wasn't man enough for a bow tie. Ahluvit. Too bad the third letter in the envelope, one from my mom, wasn't filled with any more juicy baby gossip. IT'S OKAY LIZ, WE'D FORGIVE YOU!
