Is it completely sad that I'd heard about Poultrygeist before Fozzie's YouTube clip?
Last night I was sitting at my desk, clicking away on muh lappy with Family Guy on the TV when suddenly I heard a pop noise or two from outside and screams. I went to the window and saw a throng of people outside of Hyperlink (if you will please refer back to my Halloween entry) At least a third were scattering and fleeing the scene, but the weird part was, although shots had been fired, the majority of the people stayed where they were. On Halloween, the shooter had fired into the air and EVERYONE had scattered. I watched some kids run across the adjacent Pizza Hut's parking lot and then scanned over the scene. Across the street from the club is a hookah bar and a large public parking lot. In between the rows of cars in the parking lot I could see six or seven guys surrounding another on the ground and kicking him so I watched for a bit, and then I could hear sirens coming so I looked to see where they were coming from. When I looked back to the parking lot the guys who'd been kicking the kid on the ground were running, but I didn't see where the guy on the receiving end of the kicks had gone to. Three cop cars pulled up, and there was STILL a huge crowd of people in front of Hyperlink. Every car that drove by seemed suspicious to me, and whenever I saw a particularly fast one zoom by, I pretended that that was the getaway car. I watched for a couple more minutes but nothing really seemed to be happening. I saw three guys with their hands on their heads in the middle of the street with a few officers and an ambulance came about ten minutes after the first siren but no stretcher was pulled out. All I could think was "This is not as exciting as it could be." and "Are you forreals, 8:45 on a Tuesday?" I watched a bit longer, but nothing had happened or was going to happen. I guess half the reason why I was feeling so meh about it was more than half the people stayed where they were when the shots went off. Come on people, give me a sense of urgency here!
